Theme 2: Spin Circuits

As a first, WIN is systematically organizing a research theme that specifically investigates the challenges that face future spintronic based device-device coupling and circuits.

As we move to beyond gigascale devices on a chip, the intimate interactions and phenomena that play spin based devices in a collective manner will be investigated. Development of spin-based interconnection will provide the necessary feedback loop to direct the technology development into the most promising direction and lead to synergistic collaborations.

As part of this effort, WIN is focusing on projects such as resonant coupling and spin wave coupling that offer a first step in device-device interconnection and a road towards true signal processing with spintronic circuits. The theme lead is Jim Harris from Stanford.
